Creator. Strategist. Thought Leader. Campaigner.
For over 25 years I have built strategic and impactful programs and have increased the capacity of organizations and leaders to deliver concrete benefits to society.
Creating and Leading Movements for Large-Scale Social Change
As a respected movement leader, coalition builder and strategist, I have served as a bridge between traditional not-for-profits, large institutions, and vibrant social movements. I have helped to inform the strategic development of campaigns, programs and funding for a variety of institutions at the local, state and federal level.
Strategist
I’ve built innovative programs and led groundbreaking achievements - including The NYC J.O.B.S. Program, one of the country’s largest employment programs for low-income people and the Peoples Climate March, which brought 400,000 people into the streets of New York City. Currently, I am working with rural organizers and movement leaders to increase investment in building movement infrastructure in rural communities and red states.
Thought Leader
I’ve presented at international symposiums on a broad range of subjects - including Building a Broad-Based Climate Movement at the EuroGreen Party Conference in Sweden and Occupy Wall Street at Science Po University in Paris - and co-wrote the acclaimed and widely-used book, Tools for Radical Democracy. I am currently serving as Adjunct Assistant Professor of Public Service at NYU’s Wagner School of Public Service. I have also taught at Columbia University School of Social Work and Queens College.
Campaigner
I have helped to inform the strategic development of campaigns, programs and funding for a variety of institutions at the local, state and federal level. I most recently helped climate leaders in Colorado pass groundbreaking legislation that will move the state to 100% renewable energy and protect workers in the fossil fuel industry.

Featured Work
United Today, Stronger Tomorrow (UTST) is my new project initiated at the beginning of the Covid -19 pandemic. The project tests new ways to base build during moments of crisis and opportunity.
UTST is working to build power for working Americans in Intermountain West and Upper Plains communities, through strategic campaigns that use a combination of coalition, base building, and digital strategies.
Through UTST’s organizing, we’ve won strong public health measures that have protected workers and communities from Covid, and won millions in federal funds to build affordable housing, improve access to healthcare, strengthen public education, improve local infrastructure and provide emergency relief to families impacted by Covid-19.
